Born in a small, peaceful halfling village consisting mostly of farmers and herders, Jordan Gail’s childhood was rather uneventful. That is, until she reached the age of 10. Late one night, when the villagers were sound asleep, a band of dwarven thieves, who had no ties whatsoever to the dwarven state, came down upon the village like a fierce storm. The halflings fought of course, but there is only so much farmers and herders can do against trained fighters. All were slaughtered. Except, of course, the still sleeping Jordan. For the past little while she had been playing a trick on her mother every night by falling asleep in different places – making it harder for her mother to find her in the morning to do her chores. This particular night she had fallen asleep in the woodshed behind the house. The thieves, looking only for goods, had not searched there. When she woke the next morning, she found her village burned to the ground and the dwarves sleeping among the ashes. That day young Jordan swore vengeance on all dwarves and after slitting their leader’s throat, disappeared into the surrounding woods. She eventually made her way to the main human city, (insert city name here), and lived there on the streets, using only her stealth and wit to survive. Soon she was the best of the best, and any theif on those streets wouldn’t dare to say otherwise.
